Deadly Drinks
Recently, the Dolls go together for a good ol' fashioned movie night. Some of the gals prepared a deceivingly delicious drink called "The Vampiro." The sweetness masked the high levels of tequila and a solid buzz was had by all. But maybe that was just the "buzzing" in our ears from watching Hitchcock's The Birds.
The drink got me thinking about other "deadly" drinks. Perhaps we'll try some of these at the next movie night installment!
In celebration of the the seven deadly sins, which all of us dolls are guilty of at some point or another, here's a list of drinks in honor of each.
ENVY-AKA “The Fugly Stepsister”
1/2 a kiwi
Dash of sugar
1.5 oz. vodka
Splash of Triple Sec
Splash of Midori
Fill with soda water or tonic water
Muddle the kiwi flesh and sugar in the bottom of the shaker. Add ice to 3/4 full. Add vodka, Triple Sec and Midori. Shake vigorously, but pour contents as a whole into a tall glass. Pour either soda water or tonic water to fill. Garnish with kiwi slice.
WRATH-AKA “Boiling Bitch”
Glass of Champagne
Splash of pomegranate juice
Splash of Triple Sec
Pour the Champagne. Add Triple Sec and pomegranate juice. Gently stir. Garnish with a cherry.
GREED-AKA “Gimme More”
1 oz. Goldschlagger
0.5 oz. Creme de cacao
0.5 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
Fill a short rocks glass with ice. Pour contents and stir.
LUST-AKA “Pucker Up”
1/4 cup fresh pmegranate seeds
1 slice of grapefruit
Dash of sugar
1.5 oz. citrus vodka
Splash of cranberry juice
Take the fruit and sugar and muddle them in the bottom of a shaker. Add ice to 3/4 full. Add vodka and cranberry juice. Shake vigorously then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon.
SLOTH-AKA “Clipped Wings”
1/4 cup of mixed berries
Dash of sugar
1.5 oz. grape vodka
Fill with Red Bull
Muddle the berries and sugar in the bottom of a shaker. Add ice to 3/4 full. Add vodka. Shake vigorously and strain over ice in a tall glass. Add Red Bull to fill.
PRIDE-AKA “Narcissus”
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup orange juice
1 oz. vanilla vodka
1 oz. orange vodka
Blend the ice cream, milk and orange. Once smooth, add the vodka and mix. Serve in a tall glass with an orange slice on the rim.
GLUTTONY-AKA “Liquid Brownie”
1 oz. Ghiradelli’s Dark Chocolate Liqueur
0.75 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
0.75 oz. Chamboard
Whipped Cream
Fill a short rocks glass with ice. Pour contents as desired. Top with whipped cream.
Drink up, Dolls!
